You didn’t think I forgot about vampires, did you? There’s a shit ton of awesome vamp novels and series out there but the most pivotal (and most responsible for the sexy, tragic vampires we love today) series is The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice. I’m nowhere near completed but I can’t deny that it’s an immersive and addictive universe. Blood Canticle is one of my favorites. I’ve read it a few times and each time it’s satisfying, even though it picks up in the middle of a series. It has vampires, witches, Taltos, you name it. And Lestat, OF COURSE. I could just as easily swap this one out for Interview with the Vampire but this one is closer to my heart. Although it isn’t set in autumn or anywhere cold (tropical, actually), I have to consider you poor souls who live in warm climates all year, right? Both are exceptional choices for refined, unstuffy, slightly slutty, vampire literature to appease the red wine drinker in you. Hell, read anything by Rice. She’ll transport you to New Orleans in a page turn. [23/31].
