And Then There Were None (1939) #31DaysofSpookyBooks

I found this at the thrift shop and thought, “What’s Halloween without a little murder mystery?” I remember reading this in high school and thinking how relentless it was. Considering the time period which it was released, it must have shook a reader or two. Strangers + eccentric billionaires always equals weird events with some cloak and dagger shenanigans. Plus a handful of murders and lots of paranoia. The cover says Christie is the Queen of Mystery but it’s more like the Queen of Red Herrings because god damn, she keeps you guessing to the point where you give up guessing and keep on reading. Clever gal, that one. If you’re less about blood and screams and more about terrible secrets and gasps, this is the novel for you. [22/31].
